Art Director —Apple; Cupertino, CA 2022

Today at Apple: Shoot and Edit Dramatic Summer Light on iPhone; Web series on how to create on iPhone, iPad, and more with techniques from global artists and Apple Creatives. Lead a collaboration with the company’s writers to develop episode concept, design, and structure that empowers users to create dramatic summertime photos. Lead Apple’s motion team to create graphics that clearly communicates photographic techniques as well as demystifies iPhone’s deeper functions. Worked closely with director, editor, cinematographer, and composer to bring vision to life.

Designer/Animator —Radical Media; New York, NY 2021

Today at Apple: Direct, Shoot and Edit Powerful Portraits; Brought in by Apple’s media agency to design and the iPhone episode for TAA series. Designed style frames and story boards. Worked with Apple’s art directors and designers to construct a signature motion language and look for the episode that makes powerful portrait photography accessible to everyone.

Designer/Animator —Netflix; Los Angeles, CA 2020

Developed, designed, and animated several projects for the company’s XD Emerging Creative team.
Select Projects:

  • Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month: Created titles and graphics for the Netflix UI to highlight AAPI stories.
  • Netflix x Figma: Motion designer for the company’s presentation at the Figma Schema Conference.
  • Slate Manager: Design/motion lead for company-wide software launch. Created motion graphics package to build excitement and generate engagement. 
  • Netflix Kids: UI, Splash page design and animation for Kids Profile UI. Created a fun and surprising opening page UI that encourages users to unveil a new mystery show.

Sr. Art Director —Fox Sports; Los Angeles, CA 2008-2019

Began as a freelance sr. designer/animator for Fox Sports Promos Group. Conceptualized and executed commercials  for the network’s largest sports events and shows, defined look for Fox Sports regional branding. Transitioned to the larger Graphics Department and art directed and developed in-game graphics and network packages.

  • Super Bowl XLV, XLVIII, LI: Developed and designed live, in-game graphics for with a national viewership of 111.3  million. 
  • Men’s World Cup 2014, 2018: Designed and animated network package with a global audience of 3.5 billion.
  • Fox Sports: Rejuvenated the Fox Sports brand with a clean, modern redesign of live, in-game graphics across all  sports. 
  • Fox NCAA Package: Streamlined work flow of package for swifter output to cover ever-changing stats, storylines.

Freelance Art Director —Los Angeles, CA 2004-2008

Worked with several acclaimed studios and transitioned from designer/animator to a more expansive role of art director and collaborator. Broadened responsibilities spanned the whole creative process including: working with creative directors to conceptualize and develop pitches, communicating with clients, agencies, producers, guiding and setting clear goals that enabled junior designers to execute client needs successfully. Adj Professor—Otis College of Art & Design; Los Angeles, CA 2007

Concurrent with freelancing, taught the school’s Motion Design class. Syllabus included a progression of projects exploring the history of graphic  animation, animation theory, case studies, and creative problem-solving.

Freelance Designer/Animator  —Los Angeles, CA 2001-2004

Identifying and solving design problems with the (above) design studios. Strong focus on skill; executing the vision of  art directors with rigor and speed. Contributed to pitches by creating style frames, storyboards, logo treatments, and animation tests.

  • Budweiser Select’s Expect Everything Super Bowl A​d: Design​ed​ and animated game interface with multiple moves  and countermoves for a virtual football game played between Don Shula and Jay-Z. 
  • Nike Golf One Ball commercial: Animated and composited commercial starring Tiger Woods. Intel Sponsors of Tomorrow: Art Directed a series of ads touting the speed of intel’s newest chip. 
  • General Motors Cadillac Summer Campaign: Composed type layout, composited motion controlled footage to  promote its biggest sales event. 
  • General Mills Total Cereal: For Mind and Body commercial campaign: Illustrated, storyboarded, and animated  psychedelic elements inspired by Milton Glaser's posters. 
  • HP’s The Computer is Personal Again campaigns: Expanded the brand’s print campaign by creating illustrations  and motion graphics for commercials feat. Jay-Z, Pharrell, Shaun White, and Mark Cuban.

BL:ND

  • Justin Timberlake’s Lovestoned: Created an environment of sound waves that the singer moves through.
  • Riding Giants: Created opening titles tracing the history of surfing from its origins in Hawaii to modern big wave riders
  • Dunkin’ Donuts’ America Runs on Dunkin’ campaign: Designed memorable end tag to every commercial in the  campaign. 
  • The CW Network: Redesigned network identity and created promos for the network’s original programming.

RUBEN FLEISCHER

  • Art directed for Zombieland director’s music videos for DJ Format, Dizzy Rascal. 
  • Winterfresh Gum commercial: Designed and composited.

Design Intern —Belief Studios; Los Angeles, CA 2001

Assisted senior designers and animators providing assets for production. This included: previz, rotoscoping, digitizing, cataloging, creating project file templates; after-which was given further responsibilities such as designing and  animating on-air elements for final delivery.
